Should there be any change in our operating methodology that may impact our output, for whatever reason, the responsible manager will be informed immediately; as well of the contingency plans that we will implement. Our contingency planning is necessary to cope with extraordinary situations e.g. Staff absence, Strikes, epidemics, accidents involving many people, etc.
Sandisiwe Development Agency cc is a 100% Black empowered and owned company. Beyond the aspect of ownership of the company, Sandisiwe is founded on the true principles of empowerment as displayed in its philosophy of advancing previously disadvantaged people and empowering them with practical skills in the industrial cleaning services industry and related services in the mining sector.
The following are key points of our contingency plans:
• In the event of staff absence, we will look to keep a database of available licenced operators available too assist in an emergency.
• In the event of strikes or any type of industrial action that may affect the safety of our staff, our first priority is to protect our staff while looking to meet the full expectations of our client.
• If the problem area is outside of the mining area, say, the community on route to the factory, we will look to find ways to safely convey our staff to and from work.
• We will have first aid kits and a trainer first aider in our team to attend to minor accidents. Where necessary, clinical services if that is available to us.
• Major lost-time accidents will be reported to the responsible manager and the services of qualified medical personnel will be used to treat the affected employee/s.
• In all aspects of our contingency planning, we will subscribe to the standards of our client.

Health & Safety Polocy At Sandisiwe we believe that health and safety of our employees, clients and the general public is a priority and an essential foundation for success in our business.
Accordingly, we adopt and apply a health and safety policy that ensures that our workers are well informed and trained on matters of health and safety and comply with the regulations in this regard. We take care to protect our clients and their property from harm and damage and ensure that the public is adequately protected and informed about our operations.
We will promote a culture of health and safety, by making sure that our employees understand the principles of safety and become participants in practicing these principles. Entrenched in this principle is the awareness given to each employee that they have the right not to do any work that they deem to be dangerous; and for which they have not been trained or provided with the necessary PPE. This will mean that every employee will be able to identify risks in his working area, and to adhere to safety instructions at all times.
Every employee will have an annual medical assessment and all employees leaving our company will be given exit medical assessments to ensure that they leave our employ in good health.We are committed with being fully compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
Working Conditions & Labour Relations
We are committed to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, No 75 of 1997 and the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995.
To make sure that no employees are unfairly dismissed, we will follow proper procedures at all times. Employees are entitled to annual leave, maternity leave, family responsibility as well as sick leave. Any employee that works overtime, on public holidays and on weekends will be paid according to the BCEA and in terms our agreement with them.
Labour disputes, if any, will be followed by proper procedures to ensure that there is no negative impact on our client.
Employees are entitled to tea time and lunch break and this will be adjusted according to our client’s requirements. A written contract will be signed between Sandisiwe Development Agency and its employees so that there is a clear understanding that they are employed by Sandisiwe and not by our client.

Our Operating Standards
Sandisiwe Mining and Industrial Support Services commits itself in making sure that we constantly improve not only our services but the company that we service by: The avoidance of double handling especially in the plant when removing spillages from broken down machines and then putting it back to the machine. Reporting of faulty machinery before they breakdown and cause spillages. This always ends up being a very costly that means we must get extra employees or work overtime. Servicing the machines will cut down the cost by at least 20%. Prevention of ongoing maintenance to broken down machines, the machines need to be serviced more often.
